Why does the pilot lite on my heating furnace keep going out ?I've lit it 3 times and it will stay lit for about 5 minutes then it goes out.

could be weak thermocouple,bad magnetic coil,dirty pilot orifice,hole in chamber blowing pilot out,dirty main burners,burners out of adjustment,u need a pro to check it out

Get a tooth brush and clean the buildup off the pilot. Replace the thermocouple. Position the flame into the very tip of the thermocouple's probe, If the flame is hitting the middle of the thermocouple probe, that is called wash through, which means the energy produced by the bimetal compound inside is not as great as when the flame hits the very tip of the thermocouple and that could be what is causing the pilot to die in 5 minutes if you have already replaced the thermocouple and are still having problems.

Could be many things causing this, get a pro to check it out. If it's old enough to still have a pilot it needs checked checked for cracked heat exchangers. This can not only cause pilot outages but many other things including death.
